Sadly our 2021 Tesselaar Tulip Festival has been cancelled.

We are now looking forward to our 2022 Tesselaar KaBloom autumn festival.

Here are some of our most commonly asked questions. If there is something you wish to know that isn’t listed here, please feel free to get in touch, we are happy to help.

How are the tulips looking now?

When do you open?

We open 10am to 5pm every day between September 11th and October 10th 2021. The Tesselaar Tulip Festival opens mid September to mid October every year. For the rest of the year the Tesselaar Tulip Farm operates as a nursery and mail order plant business, in autumn we explode with colour once more with our KaBloom Festival of Flowers (this event will resume in 2022). Sadly the tulips are not on display at any other time.

Do I have to buy my ticket online?

We have limited capacity, so pre-purchasing tickets is highly recommended, they are only valid for your chosen day. There is no booking fee. You do not need to print out the ticket, we can scan it off your device.
Limited tickets may be available at the gate, subject to availability. Click here for ticket prices and availability, there are prices for both peak and off peak dates. School groups (on application) are charged at $10 per student, please call 1300 428 527 to book.

Can I change my ticket date?

The festival operates in all weather, but if your plans change, no problem, you can alter them via the link in your confirmation email or by logging into your INTIX account. Don't forget, your tickets are only valid for entry on the date shown on your tickets. There is a $2.99 fee per ticket change and any changes are subject to availability with our limited capacity.

What about tickets for children?

Children aged 3-16 and under are free of charge, but will still need a ticket for entry. Children under 3 do not require a ticket.

Can I just turn up without a ticket?

If tickets are not sold out prior we will have limited tickets will be on sale at the gate. The ticket price is the same no matter where it is purchased.

Do you accept Carers' Cards or Companion Cards?

Carer Cards & Companion Cards are accepted. Please contact us on 1300 428 527 to book.

How to group tickets work?

Groups of ten or more have discounted entry. Once the tickets are purchased, they can be forwarded to individuals to make entry quick and easy. You do not need to print out the ticket, we can scan it off your device.

Is this event COVID safe?

Tesselaar is committed to ensuring the 2021 Tulip Festival operates in a safe manor and in accordance with health directives. All visitors must check in with the QR code to enter and tickets are limited to ensure social distancing. Please refer to the Victorian Government's latest travel updates and advice with regards to hot spots and red zones. You must not attend the Tulip Festival if you have any COVID-19 symptoms or feel unwell. Masks must be worn in accordance with government guidelines.

Can we bring our dog?

Dogs on leads are welcome. We provide water for dogs around the grounds. We ask that you please pick up after your pooch.

Can I use a drone at Tesselaar Tulip Festival?

No, we do not allow drone photography.

Do you have wheelchair/walker access?

The Tesselaar Tulip Festival is held on a working farm with unsealed roads and paths. The property is located on a slope. People with limited mobility will require assistance with access. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions. We support the National Companion Card. We support the National Companion Card and Carer Card. There is a flat, separate entrance within the carpark for those with limited mobility. We suggest calling our customer service team before visiting on 1300 428 527 (Mon-Fri) for accessibility information.

Do you have wheelchairs for hire?

We have a limited number of wheelchairs available which we allow our visitors to use free of charge. They are located in our information stand. However we do not take reservations and cannot guarantee there will be one for your visit. If you need a wheelchair for your visit we advise you bring your own or secure hire for one from somewhere else.

How long does it take to look around?

Well, how long is a piece of string?! That really depends on how many photographs you want to take, if you are having lunch, would like to sit and listen to some of our entertainment etc. etc. What we can tell you is the facts; we have almost a million tulips to see set across 5 acres on a 25 acre property. There is live entertainment daily and you can see our 'What's On' page for more detailed information. Some people can be in and out in a couple of hours and see it all, others like to make a day of it. It really depends. You could even make it part of a large day trip and include one or more of the fantastic local attractions.

Are there tables and chairs?

Yes, we have tables and chairs available for you to use. You are welcome to bring your own picnic rug, or picnic for that matter and relax for the day.

Is there any food available?

Yes, we have a range of different food vendors every day. You can visit each themed day for details of what food is on offer. Every day at the festival we have the Poffertjes (the famous Dutch mini pancakes), take away foods such as pies and hot chips, pizzas, sandwiches, Gozleme (yummy Turkish bread), tea, coffee, roasted potatoes and cold drinks. Food prices range from $5-$23 per item or meal.

Can we bring our own picnic?

You are very welcome to bring your own picnic and enjoy it in our gardens. We have lots of lovely lawn where you can sit down and enjoy the ambiance. We also have picnic tables located throughout. We do not have barbecue facilities on site.

Is there parking?

Yes, we have free onsite parking for cars and buses. On busy weekends we have two car parks and entry points. People with limited mobility are advised to park in our main car park (on the Monbulk side of our farm) in the designated spots. Please note parking is limited and based on a first come first served system. Many areas surrounding the farm are NO STANDING and we actively discourage you from parking on the roads surrounding the farm. If the car park is full, we recommend you take a drive, get a coffee, explore the local area and come back in an hour or so, we will reopen the car park as soon as space becomes available. On weekends we also offer a chartered bus service from Lilydale Station at the cost of $5pp, children 16 and under free.

Can we BYO?

No, but we have licenced vendors that are permitted to sell alcohol.

Can I take wedding photos there?

Yes, you are most welcome to have your photos taken here. Our season runs annually from Mid September to Mid October. We do not have areas set aside for private photos so suggest you come at 10am on a week day for a more private wedding photo shoot at the Tesselaar Tulip Festival. We advise you pre-purchase your tickets online to avoid an added wait at the entrance gate (tickets are valid any day so if it is raining and you need to change the date that is no problem). You will need a ticket for everyone including make up artist and photographer. We do not charge an additional photo levy.

Brides, please be advised, we are a working farm and have mud and dirt, so bring along some practical shoes as well as your gorgeous sparkly ones. We also think a picnic blanket or towel is a good idea to stop your dress getting dirty.

Can I have a wedding at the Tesselaar Tulip Festival?

At this time there is no facility to host weddings at the Tesselaar Tulip Festival. We are considering it, but do not have the amenities at this time.

Are there addition costs once inside?

There are many free activities and installations inside. There are some additional charges and most are listed on the relevant 'What's On' pages. For example the tractor ride is $5pp, or $15 for a group of four. People with limited mobility and their carers are free of charge. We charge extra for this activity as we do not have the capacity for everyone to utilise this activity, so instead of charging a higher entry price we have a small, optional extra fee. All vendors accept cards.

Why do you have ropes around the fields?

We do this to ensure we have a great flower display throughout the festival as we want everyone to be able to enjoy the flowers at their best. We have placed crossings along the fields and kept the rows low so that you can still get that perfect photo.

Can I come after your closing date?

After our closing date our gates will be closed for pull down for four days. We do not allow access during this time. After that date our plant shop and gardens will reopen.
