Childrens Weeks

We have a fantastic line up of Children’s entertainment in 2016 and are excited to announce Ben and Holly will be joining us with theirStage Show and visiting us for the first time is the Hoot and Hootabelle Owl Pal Playdate.

The kids will also love Melbourne’s own, The MikMaks, they bring amazing colour, excitement, laughter and fun to the stage on every one of our Children’s Days.

Also daily, we have the fantastic Fairy Mez and her intriguing tales in Fairy Hollow, The Blue Loon twisting balloons into animals, hats, flowers and more. You can pet the animals in our petting zoo and learn about Australian wildlife from Michael of Black Snake Productions, with his wealth of knowledge on reptiles. Stax the Didgeman give you the opportunity to learn one of our most iconic instruments, the Didgeridoo. Sandwizard will be there too.

There are a variety of craft workshops on offer as well as amazing face painters.

Children can test out their powers of observation on our Fairy hunt, or participate in some fun Dutch Games, ride on our Tulip Train, indulge in traditional Dutch foods and other treats, see market stalls, pick a bunch of Tulips, visit our clog shop, and of course be amongst the sensational Tulips. There are plenty of fun and photo opportunities!

Celtic Babe have a fabulous range of kids clothing. There are also Alpacca crafts and a couple of the gorgeous creatures to see up close.

Food

Poffertjes – Moorish Dutch pancakes with various toppings, many people visit just for these treats. 

Dutch Foods – Croquettes, Frikandellen (sausage), Reifkoek (potato cakes)

Lekker Lekker – Dutch Frites (fries), Oliebollen (Dutch doughnuts), Bitterballen (Dutch meat balls), Cheesesoufles (deep fried battered cheese ohhh yeah), Spicey jalepeno peppers, Shoarma (marinated meats in pita bread).

The Tulip Cafe – Dine in or take away meals

Gozleme – Traditional Turkish, hand made Gozleme with a variety of fillings (savory flat bread, pastry dish)

The Wicked Spud – Potato twisters and gourmet wedges

Il Padrino – Wood fired pizza, Kibbeling (Dutch fish bites), salt & pepper calamari, french fries

Baked Potato Express – Baked potatoes with various fillings and fresh corn on the cob.

Choo la la Nuts – Roasted praline almonds, macadamias and peanuts.

Timboon Fine Ice Cream – Home made ice creams and sorbets.

Chocolate Junction – Fairy floss, strawberry and chocolate kebabs, frog in the pond, biscuits and slices.

Somewhere, hidden amongst the thorny brambles is a little kingdom ... Fairy Princess Holly and her best friend Ben Elf are coming for an adventure in the tulips! See this live stage show that will entertain children and adults alike. There are photo opportunities and a meet and greet session between the two shows. Free.

The MikMaks

Could the MikMaks be the next Wiggles!? Australia’s favourite new kids band and their quirky songs are guaranteed to get both kids and adults on their feet, dancing and singing. We can’t wait to hear what new tunes they’ve written since last year! Free.

Hoot and Hootabelle's Owl Pal Playdate!

Hoot and Hootabelle are putting on a fun and entertaining show that is sure to have you all up and dancing! Along with their two shows during the day, they have a half hour meet and greet, so you get to meet the much loved duo and have a photo taken. Free.

Black Snake Reptile zoo

Enjoy wildlife demonstrations and interact with animals you wouldn’t usually get a chance to; snakes, lizards, crocodiles and more. Black Snake Productions are passionate about Australian reptiles and are dedicated to conservation. The Black Snake team has years of experience with an aim to educate about the amazing world of Australian wildlife. They are doing two shoes during the day with educational and interactive talks. Free.

The Blue Loon Balloonist

'Animals On The Move' petting zoo

See and touch a large variety of farm animals, with trained staff there to ensure your child has a memorable farm animal experience. Children are invited to get to know the animals including: calves, sheep and lambs, baby goats, chickens, ducks, guinea pigs, a rooster and his hens, rabbits and friendly miniature pigs. They are here all day, with short breaks to rest and rotate the animals. Free.

Mez's Craft Workshop

Create a lasting memory of your visit to the Tesselaar Tulip Festival that you can take home. Hands on activities involving the childhood favourites of painting, sticking and drawing ... and you don’t have to clean up the mess! Craft activities range between $7-$12.

Face Painting

Children and adults alike are captivated with the transformation of their faces as Elena and her team of artists work their craft with impressive speed. From animals to monsters, princesses to super heroes. Elena prides herself on never saying no to a request and always astonishing the onlooker. Face Painting is $10 per person.

Stax the Didgeman

Learn all about the didgeridoo and have a go at playing this iconic Aboriginal instrument. It is a great activity for kids to get involved in. Stax is a gifted and respected didgeridoo maker, performer and teacher. Lessons only $3

Sand Wizard

Create your own masterpiece with coloured sand. You can bring your picture home as a special memory. Priced between $5-$9.

Gnome Hunt

Gnome Fairies which escaped Fairy Hollow and are hiding within our gardens. If you can find all seven of them, we have a special prize waiting for you at our Clog Shop. Look up and down as these Gnomes are mischievous little creatures and conceal themselves well. This activity is available every day, and for all ages at the Tesselaar Tulip Festival. Free.

Tulip Tractor Ride

Visitors can take a tour of the fields in our novel mobile. $5.
